The Reverso Tribute Duoface Tourbillon is a glorious expression of the Calibre 847, with its iconic swivelling case and dual aesthetics. On the verso, the edges of the bridges are richly textured with hand-guilloché Clous de Paris. This guillochage is a highly skilled operation executed on a 100-year-old hand-operated lathe where the artisan carefully engraves 6 times each of the 232 grooves resulting in this delicate pattern.

On the recto, the Reverso Tribute Duoface Tourbillon has an elegant yet highly distinctive presence allowing the tourbillon to take centre stage. Capturing the spirit of the early 1930s models, the pared-down aesthetic and signature details of the dial exude refinement.

"The Order" is an upcoming American crime thriller directed by Justin Kurzel, with a screenplay by Zach Baylin. The film is based on the 1989 non-fiction book *The Silent Brotherhood* by Kevin Flynn and Gary Gerhardt, which details the activities of the white supremacist group known as The Order that operated in the United States during the 1980s. The cast includes Jude Law, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Jurnee Smollett, and Marc Maron. 

Throughout the day, Nicholas Hoult opted for the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Chronograph in Pink Gold. Capitalising on its swivelling concept, the Reverso Tribute Chronograph marries watchmaking tradition to modern aesthetics. The sophisticated recto echoes the original Reverso while its open-worked verso is resolutely modern. The verso of the watch reconnects its sporty complication to the roots of fine watchmaking. The dials, consisting in two rings integrated to the calibre’s plate are finished in black for a perfect legibility, essential for a chronograph. 

While attending the red carpet, Nicholas Hoult shines with Jaeger-LeCoultre's Reverso Small Seconds in Pink Gold.  The Reverso Tribute Small Second revives the codes of the 1931 Reverso and the black dials of the original timepiece of that era. Offering exceptional legibility, the sunray-brushed black dial creates a strong contrast to the polished pink gold metal case and applied indexes, enhancing the Art Deco spirit of this iconic timepiece. 

Created by the Swiss fine watchmaking Maison as part of its mission to expand the cultural conversation around design and watchmaking, the immersive sound-and-light show tells the story of the Golden Ratio, the unique mathematical formula that defines aesthetic harmony. Open free of charge to the public, it is an invitation to discover the elemental links between the beauty found in nature and in the most pleasing of man-made objects – from art and architecture to fine watches, and in particular the timeless Art Deco design of the Reverso, which was created in 1931.

A spectacular digital show projected onto a giant screen of falling water overlooking the River Thames, The Golden Ratio Musical Show is amplified by a spellbinding soundtrack composed by the ground-breaking British musician TØKIO M¥ERS and commissioned by Jaeger-LeCoultre through its Made of Makers programme of artistic collaborations.

On the evening of 14 September, Jaeger-LeCoultre hosted a private gala dinner, during which TØKIO M¥ERS gave a live performance of his soundtrack during The Golden Ratio Musical Show, accompanied by the renowned Bourne Orchestra – a collaboration between musicians from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Chamber Orchestra. He followed this with a concert of other selected works, complete with the special effects that make his live performances so compelling.

Among the guests were the award-winning actor Nicholas Hoult, Ambassador for Jaeger-LeCoultre, actors Mimi Keene, Finn Cole, Sonoya Mizuno, Freya Allan and Gregg Sulkin. The British filmmaker and television presenter Reggie Yates was Master of Ceremonies for the evening.

The 1931 Cinema, located at Battersea Power Station on the south bank of the River Thames, and The Golden Ratio Musical Show offered the public the opportunity to experience design, craft and watchmaking in an entirely new cultural context.

Displayed over five floors, the "Reverso: Timeless Stories Since 1931" exhibition explores the creative and cultural universe of one of the world's most recognisable and celebrated wristwatches. The exhibition continues with a retrospective featuring the history of the Reverso told through four themes, from its origins to the present day. A highlight of this exhibition is the 1931 Café, an elegant setting designed in homage to Art Deco, which offers a special menu of sweets and cakes created by the Parisian pastry chef Nina Métayer.

Among the guests, acclaimed British actor and long-term Friend of the Maison Nicholas Hoult learned more about the iconic Reverso timepiece while wearing the Reverso Tribute Small Seconds in green. Nicholas Hoult can most recently be seen in the critically-acclaimed, Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild and Emmy nominated Hulu series, THE GREAT. The new season is set to premiere on Friday, 19^th November for which he also serves as an Executive Producer.

American artist Michael Murphy sported the Reverso Tribute Nonantième, the timepiece chosen to be represented through SPACETIME, an art installation created by him for Jaeger-LeCoultre.

Actress Fala Chen and French actress Camille Razat also discovered the history of a watch of exceptional design and a destiny spanning nine decades.

The "Reverso: Timeless Stories Since 1931" exhibition and the 1931 Café will be open Tuesday to Saturday from 21^st October to 24^th December 2021 at 15 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in the 8th arrondissement of Paris.

Filmed in Switzerland by French director and cinematographer Théo Gottlieb, it is a quietly beautiful reflection on life’s turning points – with the Reverso as an allegory for those pivotal moments that determine whether we remain as we are or ‘turn’ and go further.

The narrative follows Nicholas through the process of an audition, contrasting moments of intense focus as he prepares to go onstage, with periods of calm reflection amid the forests of the Vallée de Joux. As the film moves between the two settings, the actor flips the Reverso Tribute Duoface Tourbillon on his wrist to reveal its second, contrasting face. The second time zone on the reverse side subtly underlines the sense of reaching a new point.

These turning points are the essence of who we really are – the transcendent moments in our life’s journey that take us from where and what we are, to reveal what we can become. The moments when everything clicks beautifully into place – symbolised by the gentle and satisfying click of the Reverso as it locks into its new position.

Moving at a gentle pace through visually beguiling settings, the film explores abstraction and reality, nature and the man-made – revealing the beauty of each, and capturing the essence of the Reverso.

The Reverso Tribute Duoface Tourbillon was chosen for this film because it so perfectly embodies the Manufacture’s never-ending quest for excellence and innovation. Uniting a flying tourbillon with the Duoface concept for the first time, it elevated the Reverso to a new level of refinement and sophistication, both technically and aesthetically.

For Nicholas, the Reverso has a special appeal: “The two faces really express my life: the character I play when I work, and the person I am when I’m not working.”

Speaking of turning points in his own life, Nicholas emphasises the power of focus and discipline, balanced by pivotal moments of quiet reflection: “Being immersed in nature – walking in the woods, or going surfing – puts me into a state of peace, where I feel at one with the world. Allied to this is the Manufacture’s endlessly inventive quest for technical advancement – from the revolutionary idea of a case that could be flipped over, and the ingenious mechanism that made it possible, to the development of complications specific to the Reverso.

A distinguished legacy in chiming watches

In the 1990s, amid the rebirth of mechanical watchmaking that followed the quartz crisis, the Reverso – with its distinctive rectangular case – became the vehicle through which the Manufacture would redevelop its expertise in high complications. Having mastered the added challenge that rectangular movements dictate an entirely different architecture from that of traditional round movements – a particularly demanding challenge for chiming mechanisms – Jaeger-LeCoultre presented the Reverso Répétition Minutes in 1994. It was the first time the Maison had miniaturised a minute repeater for a wristwatch and was the world’s first rectangular minute repeater movement.

In fact, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s mastery of chiming mechanisms dates back to the very foundation of the Manufacture in 1833, and its deep expertise is today confirmed by an archive of more than 200 chiming calibres. Since that first Reverso minute repeater of the 1990s, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s engineers and designers have redefined the benchmark for acoustic quality, harnessing new technology in service of this noble tradition.

A new expression for the Minute Repeater

Embodying technical advances such as Jaeger-LeCoultre’s patented trebuchet hammers, silent regulator and a new generation of gongs, the Reverso Tribute Minute Repeater is powered by a revised version of Calibre 944 – a movement entirely conceived, designed and produced within the Manufacture. The new timepiece is distinguished by dials on both the front and reverse sides, bringing a fresh visual expression to the timeless Reverso design, as well as to the minute repeater mechanism itself. While the dials both display the same time, they are very different in character – one exuberant, the other more sober. Both are a testament to the beauty of fine movement decoration and the exceptional level of craftsmanship that resides within the Manufacture.

The front dial is entirely skeletonised, revealing the full complexity of the minute repeater mechanism and presenting a mesmerising display of moving parts when the minute repeater is activated. Beneath a large bow-shaped bridge that sweeps from 11 o’clock to 7 o’clock, the components appear almost to be floating in three dimensions, the sense of visual depth and transparency enhanced by faceted indexes that are cantilevered from the chemin de fer minutes track. With a gleaming golden finish, the bridge, hour markers, gongs and several other components perfectly match the colour of the rose-gold watch case.

While the exuberance of the front dial contrasts with the rectilinear geometry of the Reverso case, the relative sobriety of the reverse dial echoes and amplifies those straight lines. Vertical Côtes de Genève stripes extend over the entire height of the main plate, which also serves as the dial. Showcasing the timekeeping mechanism, with subtle colour accents provided by blued screws and golden hands and hour markers, the cool silver tone of the metal provides an elegant counterpoint to the warm rose gold of the case.

Set into the side of the watch case, the slider that activates the chimes has been specially designed for the new Reverso Tribute Minute Repeater to be as slim as possible, without sacrificing ergonomics. Visually complementing the Art Deco lines of the case, the effect is one of great refinement.

In showcasing both technical complexity and the aesthetic crafts, the Reverso Tribute Minute Repeater underlines the eternal modernity of the Reverso design, marrying the technical prowess of the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre to its eternal quest for new forms of visual expression.
