In the heart of Shanghai this September, Jaeger-LeCoultre will invite the public to discover the profound influence that the Vallée de Joux has had in laying the foundations of modern high watchmaking. The Valley of Inventions exhibition traces more than 190 years of ingenuity and inventiveness in the pursuit of utmost precision while safeguarding the precious traditions of high watchmaking. Taking place at Zhang Yuan W4, Lane 188, Maoming North Road, Jing'an District, Shanghai, The Valley of Inventions will run from 10–23 September 2026 and will be open to the public free of charge.

Immersing visitors in the creative and cultural universe of Jaeger-LeCoultre, The Valley of Inventions reveals the fascinating story of the origins and mastery of precision through four major themes: Precision and Chronometry, Precision and Tourbillon, Precision and Multi-Axis Tourbillons and Precision and Complications. As visitors explore the exhibition, their experience will be enriched by:

• The launch of new Hybris and feminine timepieces; the Asian presentation of new Reverso Enamel masterpieces; and the 2026 collections launched at Watches and Wonders Geneva in April;

INVENTIVENESS INSPIRED BY A UNIQUE ENVIRONMENT

The story of Jaeger-LeCoultre began in a hidden valley, high in the Swiss Jura, where Huguenot refugees settled in the 16^th century. To carve out a living from the beautiful yet harsh landscape, with its dense forests and bitterly cold winters demanded resilience and determination. Over generations, this resourcefulness was honed into ingenuity and inventiveness – a spirit that would eventually lead to the establishment of the LeCoultre watchmaking atelier in 1833. A constant stream of inventions was to follow – new production tools, the creation of the first integrated Manufacture, innovative manufacturing processes and unprecedented complications. This momentum, sustained to the present day, has been recognised by more than 430 patents.

Today, Jaeger-LeCoultre stands as a true Manufacture-Atelier, bringing together 82 ateliers, 108 crafts and 235 techniques – including 69 signature techniques – under one roof. It is a legacy shaped by place: a rarefied environment where landscape and climate forged the character of its people, whose ingenuity has, in turn, shaped the course of watchmaking history.

THE VALLEY OF INVENTIONS – A STORY OF PRECISION TOLD IN FOUR CHAPTERS

Visitors will be welcomed to The Valley of Inventions by a specially commissioned art installation that evokes the frozen landscape and forests of the Vallée de Joux in winter. A spectacular pine tree, sculpted from ice will form the centrepiece of an immersive show narrating the story of the place, the people and the inventions that shaped the Manufacture. Harnessing multi-sensory cinema technology, the show will feature synchronised physical and environmental effects that draw viewers deeply into the experience. Each of the four chapters in the story of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s mastery of precision will be devoted to a different facet of this crucial aspect of watchmaking.

Precision and Chronometry: Chronometry simply means timekeeping accuracy and the first chapter of the precision story explores the challenge of creating mechanical watch calibres that achieve the very high level of accuracy required to be certified as chronometers through a stringent testing process. In the 19^th century, LeCoultre & Cie produced chronometer-certified pocket watches for marine exploration, before developing precision instruments for aviation and for modern explorers and engineers with the Geophysic chronometer. The Master Control Chronometre collection, launched in April 2026, sets a new standard with double certification by both COSC and Jaeger-LeCoultre’s new HPG (High Precision Guarantee) seal.

Precision and Tourbillon focus on the regulating organ – the balance wheel and hairspring – whose isochronism is essential for accurate timekeeping. To counter the effects of gravity, Jaeger-LeCoultre developed its first tourbillon calibre, Calibre 170, in 1946. That same year, the calibre won the Neuchâtel Observatory chronometry competition with an exceptional variation of ±1 second per day. Since then, the Maison has refined tourbillon construction and hairspring design, with Calibre 978 winning the first modern chronometry competition in 2009 and inspiring the Master Grande Tradition Tourbillon Jumping Date unveiled at Watches and Wonders 2026.

Precision and Multi-Axis Tourbillons: Originally designed for pocket watches, the traditional tourbillon was not intended to fully compensate for gravity’s effects in wristwatch positions. In 2004, Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced the Gyrotourbillon 1, the Maison’s first multi-axis tourbillon, creating three-dimensional rotation to enhance chronometric precision and establishing its leadership in this field. Since then, each generation has pushed boundaries in engineering and miniaturisation, culminating in the 2026 Master Hybris Inventiva Gyrotourbillon à Stratosphère, featuring a triple-axis tourbillon architecture with three titanium cages rotating at different speeds to compensate for gravity in 98% of positions.

Precision and Complications: Adding complications – functions beyond hours, minutes and seconds – requires additional energy, which can affect precision by disturbing the stable power supply to the regulating organ. To overcome this challenge, Jaeger-LeCoultre created the Duometre system in 2007, with two independent barrels and gear trains separating timekeeping from complications to preserve isochronism. Building on 150 years of expertise in complicated calibres and minute repeaters, the Maison continues this pursuit in 2026 with a new expression of Calibre 362, advancing precision, acoustic performance and ultra-thin construction.

A CELEBRATION OF CRAFTSMANSHIP

Visitors will immerse themselves in the craft and art of watchmaking, with a focus on techniques central to the exhibition’s Métiers Rares™ theme.

La Vallée des Merveilles™: presenting a limited-edition capsule collection devoted to feminine timepieces. An ode to nature’s boundless beauty and diversity, La Vallée des Merveilles™ highlights the precision of the traditional decorative handcrafts such as enamelling, engraving and gem-setting practised in Jaeger-LeCoultre’s in-house Métiers Rares™ atelier.

New Reverso Tribute Enamel models: making their Asian debut, four unique creations, crafted through a rare, centuries-old artistry of color and fire, subtly capture the spirit of an iconic city. Each piece bears the intricate vision of a 19^th-century master.

Live Demonstrations: A rare opportunity to witness four high-watchmaking skills brought to life by Master Artisans from the Manufacture and engage directly with them as they share insights into their crafts. Hand-bevelling and enamelling reveal the precision and meticulous execution behind fine watchmaking, while a perlage demonstration highlights the artistry of decorative finishing. The programme concludes with a watchmaker from the Complications workshop assembling a Master Control Chronometre movement and explaining different tourbillon constructions – from traditional flat tourbillons to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s pioneering multi-axis Gyrotourbillon à Stratosphère.

A LABORATORY OF PRECISION

HPG Laboratory: a hands-on experience exploring the key stages of the stringent new High Precision Guarantee (HPG) seal, which certifies the accuracy and quality of the Maison’s watches. Visitors will immerse themselves in simulations of rigorous tests, including the shock test, the impact of changing pressures at different altitudes, various positions and variable temperatures. The High Precision Guarantee (HPG) seal guarantees not only the refined aesthetic finishes but also the high precision of the timepiece. This certification is met through a patented protocol that rigorously tests cased-up watches, replicating the daily wear of a watch.

Beyond precision, the laboratory experience also delves into the art of watch decoration, highlighting not only its aesthetic beauty but also its original functional purposes from historical watchmaking. This approach allows visitors to truly comprehend the profound intricacies of watchmaking.

The mystery of the Atmos and watchmaking objects: This display features a selection of key Atmos models, including the traditional Atmos Classic, an artistic interpretation of the Atmos Régulateur, as well as the Memovox Travel Clock by Marc Newson, which was newly launched during Milan Design Week.

A hands-on journey into Precision: for those wishing to deepen their understanding of watchmaking a Discovery Workshop focusing on the theme of Precision will be presented by the Atelier d’Antoine in a dedicated space within the exhibition. This dynamic and interactive workshop includes the rare opportunity for participants to try a key watchmaking skill, guided by an expert from Jaeger-LeCoultre. The Discovery Workshops are available upon invitation; participation is free of charge but reservations must be made in advance.

Jaeger-LeCoultre is delighted to present the sixth capsule of The Collectibles, a meticulously vetted selection of 12 museum-grade timepieces to be unveiled in London on June 15 and available to collectors worldwide. The sixth capsule marks the first presentation of The Collectibles in London, an important hub for watch enthusiasts and collectors.

Its timing in June coincides with the Season, the period in spring and early summer when London traditionally hosts a rich programme of prestigious social, cultural, and sporting events, attracting visitors from all over the world. This capsule comprises a meticulously vetted selection of seven rare Reverso watches dating from 1931 to 2003. It is presented alongside five emblematic pieces from the golden age of watchmaking, in the mid-20^th century.

THE COLLECTIBLES PROGRAMME

The Collectibles is Jaeger-LeCoultre’s in-house programme dedicated to sourcing, restoring and offering rare, museum-grade timepieces from the golden age of watchmaking. Celebrating nearly 200 years of creativity, it highlights the Maison’s heritage through a curated selection of 17 emblematic models – from the Duoplan and Reverso to the Geophysic, Futurematic and Memovox Polaris – spanning the mid-1920s to the early 1970s. Presented through exclusive capsule releases worldwide, these timepieces invite collectors to become the next custodians of their stories. This commitment to heritage is made possible by Jaeger-LeCoultre’s dedicated restoration workshop, one of the very few maintained by a Manufacture. Here, ten master watchmakers meticulously restore each piece, servicing movements, hand-rebuilding components and sourcing historical parts from exceptional heritage stocks, while preserving original character and patina. Once restored and certified to museum standards, each timepiece is ready to continue the story it began in the Vallée de Joux.

REVERSO: THE EMBLEMATIC REVERSIBLE WATCH

The seven Reverso models offered in the sixth Collectibles capsule collection illustrate the depth and breadth of the Reverso’s evolution from its introduction in 1931 until the beginning of the early 21^st century. While Reverso was originally conceived for a sport – created to withstand the shocks of the polo field – it was quickly adopted by tastemakers from many walks of life, continuously evolving without compromising its identity to become recognised as an icon of Art Deco design. In the 1930s, LeCoultre & Cie distinguished itself with black dials, contrasting with the dominant silver and white dials in the watch industry. These black dials were hailed as 'the dial of the future' in the 1934 Spécialités Horlogères catalogue, which was the very first product catalogue from the association between Jaeger and LeCoultre. Reserved for only a select number of early Reverso references, these high-legibility dials reinforced the model’s resolutely modern character and are notably featured on three timepieces from this capsule: Reverso 1931, Reverso 1931 Dame and the Doctor’s Reverso.

The Reverso 1931 features this bold black dial with a railroad minute track and elongated trapezoidal indexes. It is fitted with the Tavannes Calibre 063, a pragmatic early solution while Jaeger-LeCoultre developed its own shaped movements from 1933 onwards. This Reverso is offered with a hand-crafted black calfskin leather strap.

Cased in steel and powered by the Tavannes Calibre 051, the Reverso 1931 Dame demonstrates how quickly the model evolved for different wearers. Adapting the same design language, its dial replaces the men’s minute track with bracket-like corner markers and refined Art Deco corners with trapezoidal indexes, details echoed today in the Reverso One collection. This Reverso is also offered with a hand-crafted black calfskin leather strap.

Set in a steel case, the 1938 Reverso Central Seconds, later nicknamed the Doctor’s Reverso, houses the Manufacture Calibre 411 and reflects the growing functional sophistication of the model. Designed with practicality in mind, its central seconds display features five-second intervals aligned with the elongated hour markers for optimal readability, making the precise measurement of pulse rates particularly easy. A highly practical tool for doctors of the time, it soon earned the enduring nickname “Doctor’s Reverso". This timepiece is offered with a hand-crafted black calfskin leather strap.

A two-tone Reverso from 1941 pairs steel with 18K yellow gold (750/1000), an innovative combination conceived to enhance durability while preserving the elegance of gold. Its 18K 18k yellow gold (750/1000) case bears the eagle head hallmark for French gold. Powered by the Manufacture Calibre 438, it features a small-seconds display at six o’clock, a configuration introduced in 1933 that became one of the defining signatures of early Reverso design. This timepiece is offered with a hand-crafted light-brown calfskin leather strap with cream-colored stitching.

A 1972 Reverso Corvo, produced in just 200 pieces, marks a pivotal chapter in the history of the Reverso. When changing tastes favoured functional watches, in a post-war era that prized practicality over elegance and amid the quartz crisis, Giorgio Corvo recognised the enduring appeal of the design. In 1972, he acquired the Maison’s final 200 unused Reverso cases and fitted them with the mechanical Calibre 840. Said to have sold out within a month to Italian clients, the Reverso Corvo proved that enthusiasm for the model had never faded and paved the way for its revival. Featuring a silver dial housed in a steel case, it remains powered by the manual-winding Calibre 840. This timepiece is offered with a hand-crafted black calfskin leather strap.

Set in an 18K white gold case (750/1000), a Reverso Sun Moon from 2000 reflects the renewed enthusiasm for mechanical watchmaking that emerged in the 1990s, when Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced a new generation of complication calibres for the Reverso, fitting them in cases with sapphire crystal backs to showcase the mechanical complexity. Equipped with the manual-winding Calibre 823, first developed in 1999, it pairs technical sophistication with an elegant display of celestial indications. Its black dial tracks the passage of the sun through a rotating 24-hour disc, coamplemented by a moon-phase display at six o’clock and a power reserve at eleven o’clock. Framed by a railway minute track and Arabic numerals, the composition balances clarity with refinement, while the sapphire crystal caseback reveals the movement with its recognisable pistol bridge. This timepiece is paired with a hand-crafted black Cordovan strap by the celebrated Argentinian polo bootmaker, Casa Fagliano.

A  Reverso Art Deco illustrates how the introduction of sapphire crystal casebacks encouraged a new expression of decorative craftsmanship within the collection: skeletonisation. First introduced in 1995, this 2003 example pairs an intricately hand-decorated, skeletonised interpretation of Calibre 822 with an elegant Art Deco aesthetic. Visible through the open caseback, the emblematic calibre is distinguished by blued screws and hand-engraved bridges adorned with a refined barleycorn motif. Its 18K white gold case (750/1000) frames a salmon-toned solid silver dial, where hand-guilloché patterns contrast with vertical brushing, complemented by dauphine hands and applied trapezoidal indexes. Archival records indicate that no more than ten pieces were made each month, reflecting the exceptional level of craftsmanship required for each timepiece. This timepiece is paired with a hand-crafted black Cordovan strap by the celebrated Argentinian polo bootmaker, Casa Fagliano.

The seven Reverso pieces are complemented by five watches that demonstrate the diversity of the 17 models included in The Collectibles programme. Each of the five additional watches offered in the sixth capsule represents a high-water mark for both Jaeger-LeCoultre and 20^th-century watchmaking, with groundbreaking innovations that exemplify the Maison’s pioneering spirit.

TRIPLE CALENDAR: THE GOLD STANDARD OF COMPLICATIONS

Jaeger-LeCoultre developed the first Triple (or Complete) Calendar calibre in 1942, a complication specifically designed for the growing wristwatch industry, displaying the date, day and month. An extremely elegant response to a concern for utility, intended for men of the world. As well as creating its own watches, Jaeger-LeCoultre supplied these calibres to some of the most renowned names in watchmaking. It thus became one of the most emblematic complications of the mid-20^th century.

Born in the early 1940s, the Triple Calendar by Jaeger-LeCoultre embodied a new generation of useful complications designed for everyday wear, combining timeless elegance with practical functionality.

Among the first complications conceived for a series-produced wristwatch, it left a lasting imprint on both the Manufacture and the history of watchmaking.

Dating from 1946, this rare Triple Calendar with Moonphase is housed in a 35 mm 18K yellow gold case (750/1000) produced in Paris by the Jaeger atelier and bearing the Edmond Jaeger hallmark. Made exclusively for the French market, it features a perfectly legible dial designed for exemplary ease of reading, in keeping with the spirit of military-inspired watches of the period. Powered by the manual-winding Calibre 494, the watch combines calendar indications with a moon-phase display integrated within the small seconds counter. It is fitted on a hand-crafted grained blue calfskin leather strap.  

THE DUOPLAN: A REVOLUTION ON THE WRIST

At the dawn of the partnership between Jaeger and LeCoultre, the Duoplan represented a genuine industry revolution. Built on two superimposed planes, the Duoplan calibre opened new creative possibilities for both companies. Invented in 1925, its rectangular two-level architecture enabled unprecedented miniaturisation by housing larger, more robust components within a compact construction. This breakthrough had a decisive impact on the design of women’s watches. It was also a revolution for LeCoultre & Cie, which, thanks to the Duoplan, transitioned from a movement and component producer to a full-fledged watch manufacturer.

An extreme miniaturisation with no concession to precision: the 1956 Duoplan Coulissante secret watch embodies Jaeger-LeCoultre’s technical ingenuity. Set on an 18K yellow gold bracelet (750/1000), its sliding element conceals the dial at will, revealing the secret character of the piece. The case and bracelet are finished with a wavy, textured pattern reminiscent of Clous de Paris decoration.

MEMOVOX: A SECOND MEMORY

In 1958, Jaeger-LeCoultre celebrated its 125th anniversary by launching three models that highlighted its expertise and the innovative character of its creations. Among them was a particularly striking interpretation of the legendary Memovox: the Memovox Parking. With a patented dial design highly recognisable thanks to its blue and white pictogramme, the Memovox Parking allows the wearer to set the alarm for a specific duration to avoid any parking ticket.

A 1958 Memovox Parking embodies a seemingly incompatible duality: elegance in 18K pink gold (750/1000) paired with purposeful functionality. Powered by the manual-winding Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 814, it transforms a refined dress watch into a discreet urban companion, thanks to its alarm function. The case bears the Edmond Jaeger hallmark (EJ), attesting to its Parisian craftsmanship in the Maison’s ateliers. It is fitted on a hand-crafted brown calfskin leather strap.

Produced in 1969, this steel Memovox Automatic Calendar, reference E855, pairs technical innovation with a strong visual identity. At the time, Jaeger-LeCoultre brought together two key advances in wristwatchmaking: the alarm complication and automatic winding. This 37 mm model features an elegant black dial with a date window at 3 o’clock and is powered by the self-winding Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 825.

Its distinctive character is further enhanced by its five-row bracelet made by Gay Frères and engraved with the company’s chamois hallmark. Fitted with its original Gay Frères steel bracelet, the combination with the black painted dial makes it one of the most sought-after Memovox Automatic models, crafted by the renowned Swiss specialist known for supplying the world’s most prestigious watchmakers. An additional hand-crafted black calfskin strap is also provided with the watch.

GEOMATIC: THE CHRONOMETER CALIBRE

Inspired by the legendary Geophysic, the Geomatic incorporates the best that the watchmakers from the Vallée de Joux could produce at the time. The Geomatic was developed as one of the most reliable automatic watch of its time. Highly precise and a true benchmark at its launch in 1961, it symbolises the ultimate combination of state-of-the-art technology and understated elegance thanks to its chronometer-certified movement and rich dial.

A rare Geomatic E560 from 1970, produced to just 200 pieces, is housed in an 18K yellow gold cushion-shaped case (750/1000). Powered by the automatic Calibre K883S, chronometer-certified and tested for 360 hours, it features a stop-seconds mechanism for precise time-setting and an instantaneous jumping date. This highly technical construction reflects the pursuit of accuracy at the heart of the Geomatic line. It is fitted on a hand-crafted taupe calfskin leather strap.

Each timepiece offered under The Collectibles programme is presented with an extract from the Jaeger-LeCoultre archives and a complimentary copy of The Collectibles book, as well as a new handmade leather strap chosen to complement the style of each watch, except in cases where the model has a metal bracelet. In addition, when available, the original box and papers together with the original strap or bracelet will be included.

LONDON TO HOST THE PRESENTATION OF THE SIXTH CAPSULE OF THE COLLECTIBLES

The sixth capsule of The Collectibles will be unveiled on June 15 at Jaeger-LeCoultre’s London flagship, at 13 Old Bond Street, London W1 and will remain on display to the public until July 18. In 2026, photography marks its bicentenary - yet in the age of AI, image-making has never been more challenged. Hussain AlMoosawi, Emirati photographer and Mona Algwaiz, Saudi Artificial Intelligence digital artist, bring their creative talent to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Made of Makers™ programme. In their commissioned series, Hussain AlMoosawi’s photographs capture traditional Middle Eastern design codes - from architecture and ornament to urban details - which Mona Algwaiz then projects into speculative, futuristic environments through her digital practice.

PUSHING FURTHER THE BOUNDARIES OF CLASSICAL ARTS

The Made of Makers™ programme draws a parallel between the worlds of horology and art, fostering collaborations with artists, designers, and craftsmen from disciplines outside watchmaking, who share the Maison’s values of creativity, expertise, and precision. The programme challenges the perception of classical arts as static or bound to the past, instead emphasising their continuous reinvention and honouring them as a leading source of creativity today. Just as today’s classics were once seen as radical at their inception, the Made of Makers™ programme explores how traditional forms and techniques can be reinvented through new materials and media, offering a fresh perspective on the dialogue between past and present. Like the watchmakers of La Grande Maison, these artists respect tradition as a foundation for creativity, while pushing boundaries and exploring new horizons, highlighting how both watchmaking and classical art express human creativity, reflect the culture of an era and trigger emotions.

FROM PHOTOGRAPHY TO IMMERSIVE PICTURING

Photography stands here as a point of origin: a medium of observation that captures real places, architectural forms and lived environments, anchoring memory in the present. From these tangible fragments of reality, a second layer of creation unfolds.

Through AI-assisted digital practices, the image is not altered or replaced, but expanded. It becomes immersive: no longer a surface to be viewed, but a space to be entered. This process gives rise to what the artists describe as immersive picturing: an approach where photography evolves into a layered visual experience, constructed across time. The future does not erase the past; it grows from it. Past, present and future coexist within a single visual continuum, mirroring the Maison’s watchmaking philosophy - one in which heritage is not preserved in stasis, but continuously reimagined.

THE IMAGE TELLERS

An Emirati multidisciplinary creative, Hussain AlMoosawi brings over 20 years of experience across design, photography, and visual journalism. Over the course of his career, he kept pursuing an ongoing quest to rediscover the UAE’s urban landscapes, systematically documenting its often-overlooked modern architecture.

A Saudi engineer and digital artist, Mona Algwaiz explores the intersection of artificial intelligence, cultural heritage, and speculative design. Through her practice, she reimagines landscapes, architectural forms, and collective memory, transforming familiar environments into futuristic visual narratives. She develops her practice at the crossroads of technology, design, and cultural storytelling, reshaping Saudi Arabia’s built and natural environments into new futures.

‘BRIDGE IN TIME’: FIVE COMPOSITE IMAGES WHERE PAST AND FUTURE COEXIST

With ‘Bridge in Time’, Hussain AlMoosawi and Mona Algwaiz give a new perspective to the 8^th art by creating immersive compositions where past and future flow into one another. By confronting archival motifs with imagined cityscapes, their work stages a dialogue between continuity and transformation: how can cultural heritage be preserved while embracing innovation and new tools such as AI? This echoes the mission of the Maison: to protect an identity built over two centuries while continuously reinventing its forms, materials and techniques. The result is a set of composite images where past and future coexist within the same visual plane.

A PUBLIC ART INSTALLATION IN DUBAI

‘Bridge in Time’ will be presented as a public art installation at Nad Al Sheba Square, a vibrant open-air destination known for its homegrown concepts and cultural energy. Conceived as a curated journey, the installation will showcase the five artworks by Hussain Almoosawi and Mona Algwaiz, alongside a selection of Reverso timepieces. Jaeger-LeCoultre is delighted to present the fifth capsule of The Collectibles, a precisely vetted selection of eight rare Reverso watches dating from 1931 to 1937 being offered to collectors. Among the emblematic models created by the Manufacture during the ‘golden age’ of 20^th century watchmaking, the Reverso stands out as one of the most enduring and immediately recognisable designs. New York City, with its great legacy of Art Deco architecture and style, is a particularly fitting setting for the release of these sought-after watches that epitomise the spirit and design values of Art Deco.

THE COLLECTIBLES PROGRAMME

The Collectibles is Jaeger-LeCoultre’s in-house programme dedicated to sourcing, restoring and offering rare, museum-grade timepieces from the golden age of watchmaking. Celebrating nearly 200 years of creativity, it highlights the heritage of La Grande Maison through a curated selection of 17 emblematic models – from the Duoplan and Reverso to the Geophysic, Futurematic and Memovox Polaris – spanning the mid-1920s to the early 1970s. Presented through exclusive capsule releases worldwide, these timepieces invite collectors to become the next custodians of their stories. This commitment to heritage is made possible by Jaeger-LeCoultre’s dedicated restoration workshop, one of the very few maintained by a Manufacture. Here, ten master watchmakers meticulously restore each piece, servicing movements, hand-rebuilding components and sourcing historical parts from exceptional heritage stocks, while preserving original character and patina. Once restored and certified to museum standards, each timepiece is ready to continue the story it began in the Vallée de Joux.

A CAPSULE COLLECTION OF RARE REVERSO WATCHES 

The fifth Collectibles capsule collection explores the first decade after the Reverso's 1931 debut, showcasing the foundational elements that shaped its timeless design.

Redefining the shape of watchmaking: Created in 1931, the Reverso was born from a challenge posed by polo-playing military officers in British India: to create a timepiece capable of withstanding the sport's rigours. A masterful integration of form and function, its unique reversible case and sleek, Art Deco lines have made it one of the most immediately recognisable watches of all time. Epitomising the spirit of modernity at the time of its creation, the Reverso quickly transcended its sporting origins, captivating tastemakers and evolving through diverse variations for men and women. Through nine decades the Reverso has continually reinvented itself, both stylistically and mechanically, without ever compromising its identity: it has housed more than 50 different calibres, while its blank metal flip side has become a canvas for creative expression, decorated with enamel, engravings or gemstones. The distinctive and timeless design accounts for much of Reverso’s enduring appeal, its recognition as an icon of Art Deco style and its appreciation by collectors.

Eight vintage timepieces that marked the Reverso story:

• A Reverso 1931 features a black dial – described at the time as “the dial of the future” – a bold design choice at a time when silver dials were the norm. Its railroad minute track and trapezoidal indexes inspired today’s Reverso Tribute aesthetic, showcasing how the very first Reverso is echoing the most modern ones.

• A rare two-tone steel and 9K yellow gold (350/1000) Reverso from 1936 is powered by the Manufacture’s Calibre 410, the first in-house movement developed specifically for the Reverso. Introduced in 1933, this calibre pioneered a small-seconds display at six o’clock. Even though Jaeger-LeCoultre had begun developing its own Manufacture calibre, when the initial idea of the Reverso came about, La Grande Maison sourced movements from Tavannes – Calibre 063 and 064 for men’s models and Calibre 050 and 051 for ladies. This was a crucial, yet temporary, solution to swiftly bring the Reverso to market. Historically, two-tone cases were conceived to enhance durability by combining gold with harder metals, resulting in a watch more robust than a full gold piece.

• Completing the men’s pieces, a 1937 Reverso with Small Seconds houses Calibre 413, the Maison’s fourth in-house Reverso movement. Its black dial bears the name Jaeger-LeCoultre, marking the historic merger of the Le Coultre and Jaeger Maisons in 1937 and providing a precise reference to its year of production.

• The women’s models highlight the Reverso’s early adaptation to different wearers. A Reverso 1931 Dame in yellow and white gold 18k (750/1000) features a white gold cradle with yellow gold lugs and case, while its dial replaces the minute track with corner brackets at each of the four corners of the dial, a design detail echoed today in the Reverso One collection.

• The Reverso 1931 Dame with Double Signature, bears heated blue hands, a traditional watchmaking practice that changes the colour of the hands through a heating process. A rare double signature graces the dial and indicated that limited quantities of Reverso watches were delivered to a select few esteemed retailers, bearing their names.

• The collection also includes a highly unusual feminine piece, the Reverso 1931 fitted with a cordonnet bracelet. Traditionally made of calfskin leather, this slender rope-like strap appears here in chrome, attached on each side of the case via distinctive lugs.

• Finally, two versions of the Reverso 1931 Dame framed by geometric brackets and fitted with black or brown calfskin straps, captures the era’s graphic language, featuring a black dial considered strikingly modern at the time.

Each timepiece offered under The Collectibles programme is presented with an extract from the Jaeger-LeCoultre archives and a complimentary copy of The Collectibles book, as well as a new handmade leather strap chosen to complement the style of each watch, except in cases where the model has a metal bracelet. In addition, when available, the original box and papers together with the original strap or bracelet will be included.

NEW YORK CITY AS THE HOST OF THE FIFTH COLLECTIBLES CAPSULE COLLECTION

The fifth capsule collection of The Collectibles will take place from 5 February to 23 February 2026 at 701 Madison Avenue, New York City. It is open to the public from Monday to Saturday from 10:00 AM until 06:00 PM.

In 2026, this creative dialogue continues with the creation of an exclusive King’s Cake for the Maison, entitled ‘Curve of Time’. As part of the Made of Makers™ programme, the collaboration unfolds through a new culinary expression where time, tradition and craftsmanship converge. With the ‘Curve of Time’ King’s Cake, Jaeger-LeCoultre and Nina Métayer invite guests to celebrate the beginning of the year in the warmest of ways, honouring heritage while embracing artistic innovation, and capturing the essence of the Vallée de Joux through flavour and texture.

A CONTEMPORARY TAKE ON TRADITION

Rooted in a centuries-old French custom that celebrates conviviality and the pleasure of sharing at the beginning of the year, the King’s Cake becomes, in the hands of Nina Métayer, a contemporary expression of taste and artistry. With ‘Curve of Time’, the artiste-pâtissière revisits this emblematic ritual through a refined and gourmet signature, transforming tradition into a moment of sensory discovery.

The galette combines cocoa puff pastry with a generous chestnut frangipane, enhanced by delicate notes of hazelnuts, to create a rich, multi-layered tasting experience. From cocoa-infused laminated pastry to chestnut cream, hazelnut praline with nibs and a gold-shimmered cocoa tuile, each element is composed with meticulous precision. This attention to structure, balance and detail echoes the values of fine watchmaking, where mastery of time is expressed through exacting craftsmanship and harmonious proportions.

In this dialogue between haute pâtisserie and horology, ‘Curve of Time’ reflects Jaeger-LeCoultre’s enduring pursuit of excellence, celebrating tradition while reinterpreting it through creativity, precision and emotion.

COLLECTIBLES ‘FÈVES’ HONORING THE REVERSO’S DESIGN

Honoring the spirit of conviviality that defines the King’s Cake tradition, each creation conceals a ‘fève’ designed in the form of a medallion, a small charm that crowns its finder King or Queen for the day. For this special edition, the ‘fèves’ pay tribute to two defining milestones: 2021, marking the beginning of the collaboration between Nina Métayer and Jaeger-LeCoultre, and 2023, the year of the chef’s international consecration. Among them lie five exceptional treasures: limited golden vermeil ‘fèves’, exclusively crafted for Jaeger-LeCoultre, inspired by the iconic Reverso case shape and individually valued over €850, awaiting discovery by a fortunate few.

As a distinctively modern expression of femininity, the Rendez-Vous quickly became a pillar of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s collections when it was introduced in 2012. Now in 2025, the Maison refines and redefines the collection, beginning with two models: Rendez-Vous Night & Day and Rendez-Vous Moon. Thirteen years after the collection’s inauguration, an aesthetic redesign and technical upgrades bring new allure to the Rendez-Vous, masterfully demonstrating the art of transformation while remaining faithful to the collection’s original codes.

A PIONEERING COLLECTION WITH A DISTINCTIVE ALLURE

When introduced in 2012, the Rendez-Vous offered women a rare combination at the time: marrying outer style and beauty with inner technical sophistication. In an era where quartz movements still dominated women’s watchmaking, Jaeger-LeCoultre quietly redefined expectations. The mechanically advanced movement that powered the first Rendez-Vous model, Calibre 967A, was developed and produced entirely in-house, specifically for the new watch.

The philosophy behind the Rendez-Vous collection can be traced back to the pioneering spirit of La Grande Maison’s founder, Antoine LeCoultre.  Always forward-looking, the Maison began creating watches for women as well as men at an early stage; its feminine collections have continually captured evolving trends, and embodied women’s changing needs and desires. Since the late 19^th century, when women pioneered the wearing of watches on the wrist (several decades before men were to do so), the Maison has understood the immense aesthetic and technical potential of timepieces that can also be worn as jewels and accessories. It is this philosophy that guides the Rendez-Vous collection today.

The first Rendez-Vous model in 2012 was envisaged not as a standalone but as the foundation for a full collection. Many variations have been created since then, in different case metals and varying sizes, with different complications and calibres – always produced entirely in-house at Jaeger-LeCoultre – and featuring a variety of Métiers Rares™ created in the Manufacture’s own dedicated workshop. Through every interpretation, Rendez-Vous has represented the quintessential expression of modern femininity – that of confidence and elegance.

A SUBTLE AESTHETIC EVOLUTION

When creating the new Rendez-Vous design, it was imperative to retain the four key aesthetic codes that define the collection: the textured guilloché dial, the ‘Floral’ numerals and hands, a complication displayed at 6 o’clock, and diamonds to express the jewellery spirit and draw the eye to the beauty of the dial.

While a total of 64 elements have been modified (including significant technical upgrades), many design changes are barely perceptible in their own right; however, taken together, they bring a notable freshness and richness to the overall aesthetic.

The new Rendez-Vous Night & Day is offered with three variations of the 34 mm case: all steel; steel with a diamond-set bezel and 18k pink gold (750/1000) with a diamond-set bezel. The new Rendez-Vous Moon, also in a 34 mm case is offered in steel or pink gold, both with a diamond-set bezel. Emphasising the graceful allure of the collection, the redesigned case features a convex bezel, rounded sides and flattened lugs, enhancing comfort on the wrist and creating an impression of slimness.

On the dial, jewellery finishes have been subtly enhanced on all models. On the steel models with diamond hour markers, the diamonds have been slightly increased in size. On all models with gem-set bezels, the diamond size has significantly increased to further captivate the light. The tone-on-tone aesthetic and overall unity of the dial design has been enhanced: on the Night & Day steel model with non-set bezel a textured inner dial ring replaces a ring marked with dots while the other versions feature a diamond-set inner ring echoing the diamond-set bezel. The pink gold version adorns golden coloured floral numerals that match the colour of the precious metal case.

An entirely new bracelet has been designed for the collection, its exclusive lozenge-shaped links smooth, comfortable and wearing like a second skin on the wrist. The integration between bracelet and case has been improved and the bracelet can be quickly interchanged by the wearer, without the need for a special tool or technique. A second strap, in alligator leather, is included with models that are purchased with a metal bracelet. Alternatively, both the Rendez-Vous Night & Day and Rendez-Vous Moon in both steel and pink gold may be purchased with only an alligator strap.

IN-HOUSE MECHANICAL MOVEMENTS REVISITED

Complementing the aesthetic changes, both of the new Rendez-Vous models are equipped with enhanced self-winding movements. The power reserves of both calibres have been significantly increased, from 38 hours to 70 hours. The Rendez-Vous Night & Day is powered by Calibre 898 with functions of hours, minutes, seconds and a night-and-day complication, while the Rendez-Vous Moon is animated by Calibre 925, offering hours, minutes, seconds and a moon phase display, with a quick-reset moon phase adjustment button on the left case side.

Updated to deliver a fresh expression of beauty, elegance and performance, the Rendez-Vous collection continues to offer a graceful interpretation of timekeeping for women.  More than simply marking the time, the new Rendez-Vous models are distinctive visions of femininity, crafted to capture the attention and imagination.

INSPIRED BY IN-HOUSE SAVOIR-FAIRE IN GRAND FEU ENAMEL AND HAND-GUILLOCHAGE

The anthracite grey dial provides a dramatic backdrop for the tourbillon and the date display, and reflected light dances across the sunray pattern of the guillochage with every movement of the wrist. The hand-guilloché pattern is a work of immense precision and skill: each of the 180 ‘sun rays’ required six passages of the hand-operated rose engine lathe, making 1,080 lines altogether. Guided only by the eye and hand, the master guillocheur must ensure that every line is absolutely straight, evenly spaced and perfectly aligned, radiating out from the centre to the edges of the dial. In addition, the date sub-dial is hand-guilloché in a circular pattern (known in French as azurage) to create a subtle texture that contrasts with the sunray.

When the guilloché work has been completed, the dial is handed over to the master enameller, who begins the delicate task of applying the enamel. It requires five layers to achieve the desired intensity and depth of colour, with each layer followed by firing at 800ºC and carefully managed cooling.

HARNESSING A LEGACY OF TOURBILLON EXPERTISE

Since Jaeger-LeCoultre developed its first tourbillon movement in 1946, the tourbillon has been a key element in La Grande Maison’s pursuit of timekeeping precision. Invented to counteract the impact of gravity on the oscillations of the escapement, the delicate mechanism consists of a cage, within which the balance wheel and hairspring rotate. Over the course of almost 80 years, the Maison has invented many new tourbillon configurations and different hairspring shapes, the latter made possible because it is one of the few Manufactures to possess the specialised skill of shaping hairsprings in-house.

The movement powering the Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Enamel is the latest generation of Calibre 978, which won an international chronometry prize in 2009, the year of its launch. The calibre has become Jaeger-LeCoultre’s mainstay tourbillon movement and was comprehensively updated in 2019 to harness new technology. Comprising 77 components, including a titanium cage, the tourbillon weighs less than half a gram. It is equipped with a flat, two-level hairspring designed with a specific curve at the attachment points to help ensure that the oscillations are as regular as possible, thus delivering a high level of timekeeping accuracy. The pink gold bridge is enhanced by High Watchmaking finishes, including bevelling, straight graining and drawn flanks, all meticulously executed by hand.

With its finely handcrafted anthracite grey dial and mechanically sophisticated calibre, the new Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Enamel epitomises La Grande Maison’s philosophy of uniting technical virtuosity with enduring beauty and timeless aesthetics.

In 2022, the watchmakers of Jaeger-LeCoultre created an intriguing and remarkable new watchmaking complication introduced for the Rendez-Vous collection: the Shooting Star. Now, in 2025, the Maison presents a new interpretation of this romantic and feminine complication, featuring intricately hand-painted peonies on the dial. 

INSPIRED BY THE MYSTERY OF THE NIGHT SKY

Watchmakers have always been fascinated by the night sky, not only for its beauty but also because the regular movements of the stars and planets are the foundation of how we measure time. However, unlike these regular astronomical events, shooting stars are completely random and ephemeral – making them the most romantic and mysterious of all celestial phenomena. Not technically stars but rocky debris that burns brightly on hitting Earth’s atmosphere, they are visible only at certain times of year and under the right conditions, their light streaking across the night sky and disappearing in the blink of an eye. These rare phenomena have captivated mankind since the dawn of time – and inspired the watchmakers of Jaeger-LeCoultre to translate their ethereal magic into a timepiece.

In keeping with the Maison’s deep legacy in developing astronomical complications, its watchmakers were also inspired by the challenge of creating a completely new celestial complication, conceiving, developing and producing the new mechanism entirely within the Manufacture. Activated by the movement of the wrist, the shooting star appears on the dial at random moments.

ARTISTIC CRAFTS AMPLIFY THE MAGIC OF SHOOTING STARS 

The Rendez-Vous Shooting Star is presented in two enchanting variations, both cased in 18k pink gold (750/1000). As a canvas for the skills nurtured in Jaeger-LeCoultre’s in-house Atelier des Métiers Rares™, the dial is a complex structure of three superimposed discs. Made of transparent sapphire glass, the uppermost of the three layers has been hand-painted in lacquer with lush peony blooms, which conceal the shooting star when it is inactive. The process begins with a delicate yet decisive step: drawing all the outlines freehand, guided by the artist’s interpretation of the design. 

The intricate process of miniature painting then continues with the foliage, which is painted in mirror image on the reverse side of the disc. Once completed, the disc is turned over to paint the flowers on the front. Using nine different shades of lacquer for the pink peonies and 12 shades for the blue, the dials must be painted in a single, uninterrupted session because the lacquer dries very quickly. For the artist, there are no second chances and no margin for error. Adding to the challenge, the artisans work in anti-static gowns and full protective gear to ensure the piece remains completely free of foreign particles. Even the slightest contamination means starting over. Throughout, the sapphire crystal must stay perfectly clean — despite prior steps such as setting the dial — preserving the integrity of the final creation. The painting on both sides of the dial adds depth to the design, while the intricate detail of the flowers and delicate rendering of the petals creates an almost photo-realistic effect.

Set beneath the sapphire dial, the second layer is a rotating disc of mother-of-pearl, which has been airbrushed with multiple layers and different shades of blue to create the effect of a starry sky. The soft glow of the mother-of-pearl creates subtle colour variations and adds to the visual depth. On one side of this disc is a laser cut-out of a shooting star silhouette. When activated, the disc spins and, as its path curves across the upper part of the dial, the cut-out reveals the third layer – a fixed disc of silvery metal with a glowing gradient finish – creating the optical illusion of a flash of light across the sky.

Defining the trajectory of the shooting star, a three-quarter circle of diamonds is set into the sapphire glass dial. The bezel is set with a circle of brilliant-cut diamonds that draw the eye towards the dial and, in keeping with the aesthetic codes of the Rendez-Vous, the upper surfaces of the lugs, and the top of the crown are also diamond-set. The pink peony model features a fully diamond-set pink gold bracelet, with a total of 625 brilliant-cut diamonds and approximately 6.31 carats across the entire watch. The blue peony variation, paired with a shiny blue alligator leather strap, includes 189 brilliant-cut diamonds set on the case and dial, totalling around 1.47 carats for the whole timepiece.

A REMARKABLE WATCHMAKING COMPLICATION

To create a mechanism that expresses an unpredictable phenomenon is a fascinating challenge for watchmaking as it appears to defy the laws of horology – a world where everything is expressed through precisely calibrated, mathematical rhythms.

Drawing on more than 190 years of expertise accumulated within the Manufacture, the engineers and watchmakers of Jaeger-LeCoultre developed the in-house automatic calibre 734, comprising 335 individual parts, incorporating the shooting star mechanism. In doing so, they have succeeded in a remarkable feat of capturing a random cosmic phenomenon in a watchmaking complication.

Combining technical mastery with La Grande Maison’s artistic sensibility, the Rendez-Vous Shooting Star reimagines the magic of the night sky. Almost 500 stars form this celestial scene - not painted, but precisely applied as transfers on the dial of the peonies’ variations, showcasing the meticulous attention to detail behind each creation. The choice of peonies – a flower that epitomises femininity with its lush yet delicate form, and, in many cultures is a symbol of prosperity, abundance and enlightenment - amplifies the romance and beauty of watchmaking complication like no other.

From its very origin, Jaeger-LeCoultre has been a Manufacture, a visionary concept that united all watchmaking crafts under one roof. This unique structure has been fundamental to the Maison's identity as well as its relentless pursuit of horological excellence, fostering innovation and ensuring the highest standards of quality.

More than a restoration project, Le Chalet represents an enchanted escape into the serenity of the Vallée de Joux, where Jaeger-LeCoultre watchmakers have worked in harmony with nature for nearly two centuries. Drawing inspiration from the elements of their surroundings, they have shaped their craft in this unique landscape, fostering a deep connection between the Maison’s heritage and the region’s traditions.

This restoration, undertaken in partnership with the commune of Le Chenit – which includes Le Sentier, the home of the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre – goes beyond preserving a historic building. Le Chalet offers an extraordinary experience: a secluded retreat surrounded by pristine forests and untouched meadows, where visitors can step into the timeless harmony of the Vallée de Joux. Here, amidst the tranquillity of nature, tradition and craftsmanship exist in perfect symbiosis, creating an environment that feels both authentic and utterly out of the ordinary.

A MICROCOSM OF TRADITION, BEAUTIFULLY RESTORED

Located at an altitude of 1,360 metres on the western side of Mont Tendre, Le Chalet is a restored 19^th-century chalet d’alpage. Now owned by the commune of Le Chenit, it was once the property of a farmer from the valley who would move his cattle up to the high meadows (alpages in French) during summer. This magical location, known as ‘Les Chaumilles’ – a diminutive of the local dialect word chaux or small grazing area – overlooks Le Sentier and the Joux lake.

Surrounded by an ancient meadow punctuated with lapiaz – rain-sculpted fissures in the underlying limestone rocks – and set amid pristine pine forest, Le Chalet represents a deeply traditional rhythm of life that has changed little since the very first farmers drove their herds up from the valley to graze on the lush summer pasture. According to tradition, the cows would be milked on site and cheese would be made on the spot.

Typical of all such buildings in the Jura, Le Chalet originally comprised a stable, barn and cheese-production area. Embracing its heritage, with much of the original wood carefully cleaned and restored, as well as complemented by additional planks, the main open-plan barn will be used as a space for dining and entertaining, overlooked by a cosy mezzanine lounge area. The simple yet sophisticated décor places full value on the beauty of the space. At its heart is the thuyé – the traditional pyramid-shaped chimney above the heated cauldron where fresh milk was curdled into cheese – its ancient wood beautifully preserved and restored. The chalet’s old milk room – once used for drying freshly-made cheese – has become a kitchen where a chef will prepare special menus for guests, focusing on traditional recipes and seasonal ingredients from the valley – especially cheese such as the local Vacherin.

Le Chalet’s north-east- and south-west-facing facades are clad in the tavaillon (wooden tiles) used on traditional Vallée de Joux buildings to provide protection from the harsh winter climate and strong winds. The hand-cutting and laying of the shingles is an ancestral skill developed in the Swiss Jura in the 15^th century and handed down through the generations. In a remarkable effort to preserve this heritage, local artisans completely replaced the old tavaillons with new ones, crafted from wood sourced from the surrounding forest.

CONNECTING WITH THE SOUL OF THE VALLÉE DE JOUX

Time spent at Le Chalet is a one-of-a-kind adventure that blends rustic simplicity with deep sophistication – a treasured opportunity to step away from daily life and connect with the soul of the Vallée de Joux, its culture, history and people. Guests will experience the authentic world of the valley where, in the mid-16^th century, Pierre LeCoultre took refuge after fleeing from France and, 10 generations later, his descendant Antoine LeCoultre founded the watchmaking atelier that grew to become the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre. Set in the wilderness, yet less than 10 minutes’ drive from the Manufacture in Le Sentier, the surroundings are profoundly peaceful – the silence broken only by the sound of cowbells, the sighing of the breeze in the pine trees and sometimes, by the greetings of deer herds.

The opportunity to experience Le Chalet will be reserved exclusively for visitors invited by the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre. Jaeger-LeCoultre is delighted to present the fourth capsule collection of The Collectibles, a meticulously curated selection of 10 rare and sought-after timepieces created by the Manufacture during the ‘golden age’ of 20^th-century watchmaking (1920s–1970s). To be introduced in June, the fourth capsule collection pays tribute to the ground-breaking Duoplan movement, marking the centenary of its invention. Jaeger-LeCoultre will unveil the latest edition of The Collectibles in Paris – the home city of Edmond Jaeger, whose long collaboration with Jacques-David LeCoultre led to the formal merger of the two Maisons in 1937.

THE COLLECTIBLES PROGRAMME: EXCEPTIONAL TIMEPIECES AND A MASTER REFERENCE BOOK

The Collectibles was conceived for collectors wishing to acquire one of La Grande Maison’s most emblematic timepieces and enthusiasts seeking to deepen their knowledge of a highly significant period, not only for the advances made by the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre but also for the development of watchmaking as a whole.

All watches offered under The Collectibles programme are drawn from the 17 models represented in The Collectibles coffee-table book. The definitive reference to the 17 most significant models produced by the Manufacture between the 1920s and 1970s, the book shines the spotlight on such ground-breaking innovations as the Duoplan, Reverso, Memovox, Futurematic and Geophysic. A full chapter is devoted to each of the 17 models and includes such essential data for collectors as the number of calibres produced; the movements used; case metals employed; dial variations and more. Background stories place each model in the historical and cultural context in which it was born, offering a broader understanding of the evolution of the modern mechanical watch.

REVOLUTIONISING FEMININE WATCHMAKING FOR 100 YEARS

The 10 watches offered in the fourth capsule collection are all fitted with a Duoplan movement. Invented and patented in 1925, the Duoplan movement enabled an unprecedented degree of miniaturisation, answering the watchmaking conundrum that reducing the size of components almost invariably comes at the cost of robustness and reliability. LeCoultre’s solution was a rectangular movement with a two-level architecture, enabling larger components to be housed in a smaller space.

This had a very significant impact on the design of women’s watches in particular. The Duoplan family of movements comprised four calibres, including Calibre 101, introduced in 1929 and today the oldest calibre still in production. Initially supplied to watchmakers and jewellers to power their watches, the Duoplan opened new creative horizons and quickly became a core line under the Manufacture’s own name.

By 1931 – when Cesar de Trey and Jacques-David LeCoultre founded Spécialités Horlogères SA to commercialise Jaeger and LeCoultre’s products – LeCoultre & Cie had been collaborating with the Paris-based firm of Edmond Jaeger for almost three decades. Featuring Duoplan and Reverso models, the 1934 edition of the Spécialités Horlogères catalogue was the first catalogue to feature products created under this collaboration and so, although the two firms did not merge until 1937, it could be said to be the first “Jaeger-LeCoultre” catalogue. Depending on where a watch was distributed, the dial was signed either Duoplan, LeCoultre or Jaeger – and sometimes Duoplan together with one of the two names. Imitating the distinctive two plan architecture of the calibre, the lettering of the Duoplan logo itself is arranged on two levels.

The fourth capsule collection of The Collectibles shines a spotlight on Jaeger-LeCoultre’s rich heritage in watchmaking for women. Since its earliest days, the Manufacture combined its commitment to technical sophistication and miniaturisation of components with an exploration of new aesthetics and different ways of wearing the time. One of its first wristwatches, created in 1865, was a woman’s wristwatch set with diamonds and rubies. Sixty years later, the Duoplan was to have a significant impact on the future of the Manufacture and what was to become the Jaeger-LeCoultre brand, as well as influencing the way women wore watches. Combining function and advanced mechanics with sophisticated design, a Duoplan watch was a fashion statement as much as a timekeeping instrument. Their lightness and ease of wearing were perfectly in tune with the spirit of feminine emancipation from the 1920s onwards.

A CENTURY OF DUOPLAN: CELEBRATING 100 YEARS OF MINIATURE MASTERY

The timepieces selected in the fourth capsule collection are ranging from diamond-set Art Deco cocktail watches to design-forward pieces from the 1940s and ’50s. Among these boldly styled pieces is a Duoplan Tubogas secret watch in 18K (750/100) yellow gold from c.1950, its distinctive geometry defined by strong vertical and horizontal ribs, and, from c. 1941, a Duoplan Chaine set on a bracelet of broad, yellow gold links. Clearly demonstrating the shift in tastes over the decades of the mid-20^th century, a 1960 High Jewellery secret watch is set into a white gold bracelet of diamonds and sapphires set in rivière style, and fitted with Calibre 101, the smallest movement in the Duoplan family.

Also on offer is a rarely seen version of the Duoplan Tuile collection, named after the convex dial glass reminiscent of the tunnel-shaped roof tiles used on traditional Mediterranean houses. This 1939 model features a rectangular case and dial set at 90 degrees, rather than vertically across the wrist. The horizontally mounted case also features on a steel 1930s Duoplan Driver with white numerals and hands on a black dial. Named for its angled case, which allowed drivers to read the time without removing their hands from the steering wheel, the ‘Driver’ is a fine example of a Duoplan model designed with functionality in mind.

FULLY AUTHENTICATED AND IMMACULATELY RESTORED

Every piece offered for sale through The Collectibles is thoroughly vetted by Jaeger-LeCoultre’s historical experts and fully serviced and restored by the specialised watchmakers of the Manufacture’s restoration workshop. Currently numbering 10 restoration watchmakers, the restoration workshop’s team has access to archives containing the blueprint of every piece ever made, as well as original spare parts in some cases. If there no component is available, the watchmaker can make an identical component from scratch, using one of the thousands original swages or stamps. Because the Manufacture is fully integrated, the entire process can be carried out in-house. While some pieces may require significant mechanical restoration, the intervention on the case and dial must be kept to a minimum, since too much work would alter the historical nature of the piece for collectors; therefore, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s acquisitions team seeks watches that are as close as possible to their original condition.

Every timepiece offered under The Collectibles programme is presented with an extract from the Jaeger-LeCoultre archives and a complimentary The Collectibles book, as well as a new leather strap chosen to complement the style of each watch, except in cases where the model has an integrated metal bracelet. In addition, when available, the original box and papers, and original strap or bracelet will be included.

The fourth capsule collection of The Collectibles will be revealed on June 9^th, 2025. To begin the new collaboration with Jaeger-LeCoultre, Matthias spent time at the home of the Manufacture in the Vallée de Joux, absorbing the unique universe of savoir-faire and natural beauty. Wandering through the fields and forests he explored the local scents and flavours, and within the Manufacture he discovered the intricacy and beauty of celestial watchmaking.

From this starting-point, given creative carte blanche by Jaeger-LeCoultre, he has crafted eight exceptional soft cocktails, with evocative names such as Moon Elixir, Sun Infinity, Valley of Wonders and Earth Attraction. Delicious and intriguing, these highly original concoctions blend familiar ingredients with various herbs and fruit that grow wild in the valley, including unexpected flavours such as meadowsweet, gentian root, juniper berries, pine buds and sweet woodruff – as well as local elderflowers, cranberries and honey. For these visually captivating and highly imaginative creations, Matthias took inspiration from the colours, temperatures and forms of the heavenly bodies, adding final decorative flourishes inspired by the artistic crafts that he encountered in the Métiers Rares atelier of the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre.

“My time in the Vallée de Joux was truly inspiring,” says Matthias. “At the Manufacture I discovered watches that I never imagined possible – like microcosms of the universe. Seeing the planets and stars captured on such a tiny scale and designed with such artistry was thrilling. Then, discovering those amazing plants and herbs out in the wild, I couldn’t wait to get back to my laboratory and start working on these special creations.”

Jaeger-LeCoultre will unveil Matthias Giroud’s stellar creations at Watches & Wonders in Geneva in March, within a specially designed space called the Stellar Atelier – named as a reminder of the exceptional level of craftsmanship embodied in these splendid concoctions. After the unveiling in Geneva, Jaeger-LeCoultre will offer the same sublime tasting experience to its guests around the world – evoking the splendour of our universe and taking them on a sensory journey to the Vallée de Joux.

ABOUT MATTHIAS GIROUD

A mixologist of worldwide renown, Matthias Giroud was born in the French West Indies and started his career in 1997, aged 18, at the famous Bar Fly, Paris. In 2008 he was appointed worldwide executive bar chef development for Buddha Bar Group and, in 2009, became the first French executive bar chef to be named within the World’s 50 Best Bars ranking with Buddha Bar Paris. Co-author of the cocktail dictionary “La Petite Bibliothèque des Cocktails” by Larousse, he participated in the World Cuisine Summit in 2015 and 2019, alongside some of the world’s greatest chefs and in 2016 contributed his talent to Mistura Qaray, South America’s largest culinary event. Today, Matthias Giroud, together with his partner, runs the workshop L’Alchimiste, in Boulogne-Billancourt, Paris, dedicated to creating unique mixology and gastronomy experiences.

In 2022 Jaeger-LeCoultre pays homage to the astronomical phenomena that lie at the very origin of how mankind measures time. Since the earliest days of the Manufacture, astronomical functions have played a major role in Jaeger-LeCoultre’s portfolio of complicated timepieces ­– ranging from simple forms of moon phase display to highly complex perpetual calendars, equation of time, sky charts, and the draconic and anomalistic lunar cycles. Mastering all three measures of time – solar, lunar and sidereal – the watchmakers of La Grande Maison have perpetually innovated to create the most advanced and precise mechanisms that represent or even predict celestial phenomena. This year, Jaeger-LeCoultre embarks on a Stellar Odyssey with an immersive exhibition and a series of themed events that will embrace inspirational collaborations with a visual artist and a mixologist, and a fascinating programme of celestially-themed Discovery Workshops at Atelier d’Antoine. The Stellar Odyssey is an invitation to discover how the mysteries of the cosmos are translated into micro-mechanical wonders for the wrist.
